Hi, I'm Kendall
Hi folks. Just found out about theTransistor from the Hackerspaces.org list of hackerspaces, which I learned about from a Slashdot post.

I started learning electronics in 2010 with the goal of building a modular synthesizer. I built up a well-stocked basement lab, and I've completed a few projects. Right now I'm working with my teenage sons on completing a Music From Outer Space Sound Lab Ultimate kit.

Building electronics is easy for me. I even etch PCBs at home now. But the cases, front panels, and other such hardware still elude me. There are many ways to approach enclosure design, and all of them require tools and expertise that I don't have.

I'm looking forward to learning more about you guys. Your home page is a bit confusing; I finally found photos of the hacker space, but still have no idea how many members you have or how active you are. I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point.

Still trying to decide on membership. Access to the hackerspace is cool, but access to sage advice and skilled mentors who can show me how to do things would be much more valuable.

I'll keep exploring the site and see if I can swing by at the next public event.

RE: Hi, I'm Kendall
Welcome to the forums. You should definitely stop by. We currently have about 25 members. 20 in the Provo space, and another 5 from our Midvale extension. Members are at the space everyday, though our "big" days are Tuesdays and Saturdays. We currently open to the public once a month on the first Saturday. Typically we will feature free classes on these nights.

If you would like to check out the space before the next public night, PM me and we will set up a time for you to stop by.

The site is indeed kinda confusing, I'm not a WordPress fan personally...

Needs more GIFs!

The transistor is an oasis of SCIENCE in a land of boring.

Dang... I'll be on vacation Aug 4, so that one's out. I'll probably have to PM you and get the introductory tour that way. It's been expensive learning on my own through trial and error, so the price of membership will probably save me money in the long run.

I'll check my calendar and get back to you soon.
